MCH Oboe Studio FAQs

How long do lessons last?
I offer either 30 minute lessons at $25/lesson or 1 hour lessons at $40/lesson. Lessons will be set on a recurring weekly basis throughout the academic year.
***Summer lessons will be available for students who are interested, more information coming soon

How do I pay lesson tuition?
I accept cash, check Venmo or Apple Pay for tuition payment. While paying for each lesson individually is always an option, I also accept monthly payments. For monthly payments, I simply add the amount of lessons we have scheduled for that month and request payment for that month combined. *Lessons that are cancelled on the monthly payment cycle will be rolled over into the next month's payment.
-
What do I need for my first lesson?
Bring your oboe, any reeds, and any music you have been working on. The first lesson is just for us to get to know each other and understand how I can accompany you on your oboe journey.
-
Can parents sit in and observe lessons?
Of course! I teach lessons out of my home as many private instructors do, so I want you and your student to feel as comfortable as possible. I have plenty of space for parents to sit in the practice room and watch or read a book. If you feel better waiting until the lesson is finished, you are more than welcome to wait in your car or leave and return when the lesson is finished. *Address and directions info will be sent within 24 hours of your first lesson.

Where should I get reeds for my oboe student?
Most oboists start out purchasing machine made reeds, which are often expensive and not the easiest reeds for students to learn on. For students in the MCH Oboe Studio, I offer each student one free, handmade professional reed a month. Reeds can be finicky, and if students are in need of a new reed after their free monthly reed, I can make new reeds to order for $25/reed.
